STT Security Officer Codey Navarro has been selected for this month’s employee spotlight! Officer Navarro was commended by his supervisor for his above-and-beyond approach at work every day; she stated:

[Officer Navarro] has absolutely earned this nomination. Since joining us in November of last year, he has excelled in all aspects of the job. He treats everyone with respect, goes out of his way to help others, is highly dependable, and will pick up additional shifts to help the team when we’re short on coverage. He exemplifies the core values of STT, and it’s clear he cares about the future of our team.

Thank you, Officer Navarro, for your continued dedication to the safety of others and supporting your team!

Below is a brief interview with some more information about Codey:

Tell me about yourself:

I grew up in a small-town way up north [in Michigan]. I love fishing and being outdoors. I spent a lot of time as a kid outside and on the water, so it’s second nature for me. I also enjoy spending time with my friends, and I take care of my mother who is disabled. I like to spend quality time with quality people!

When did you begin working for STT?

I started around Thanksgiving in 2020. I had just moved to Lansing and was looking for a job. I went on Indeed and saw an ad from STT, but I was actually reached out to and asked to apply, so I did. I went in for the interview and ended up getting hired onto the team. I’ve stuck with it because it’s been a huge learning experience for me. My supervisor, Kelsey, has played a big role in developing my skills and work ethic. It’s been a pretty amazing experience working here so far.

What drew you to security work?

Naturally, I like to help and assist others. I take care of my mom, so I feel like it’s just part of who I am. Whenever I can help someone else out, it really does make my day.

What do you like about working for STT?

My team is amazing! The current staff we have at [site location] are incredible. I never thought I would be able to work with others and feel less stressed in a security position than I have in other jobs in the past. It’s hard to describe, but just being a part of the team helps alleviate some of the typical workplace stress. It’s a good environment for all of us.

What does an average day of work look like?

We do routine patrols, equipment checks, help out visitors or contractors who need assistance, keep our eyes and ears open for alarms or other things out of the ordinary – just doing what needs to be done. I go to different stores to make sure their security systems and procedures are up to date and in place properly. Also, depending on the day, there’s a lot of foot patrol done in the parking lots to make sure there aren’t sideswipes and accidents where a driver speeds off after hitting someone.  Every day is a little different, so you just fill in where you’re needed and help out where help is needed.
