Photographed is Calvin Rusch presenting Supervisor Longas with the STT Eagle Eye award. The STT Eagle Eye award is in recognition of exceptional work ethic, exceeding expectations, and going above and beyond in the line of duty.

While on duty at a commercial facility, Longas observed a vehicle arrive on site and park, which was not abnormal. However, it wasn’t a familiar vehicle to him, so he monitored it closely from the site’s video surveillance system. Longas observed to see if anyone would get out of the vehicle and where they would go. After several minutes of no one exiting, he radioed for someone to watch over as he went out to check on the vehicle and it’s driver. When he arrived at the vehicle, he did not anyone inside despite not having seen anyone exit since it arrived. He tapped on the window repeatedly and received no response. The windows were tinted and it was difficult to see if anyone was in the back seat. Law enforcement was then called for support. When law enforcement arrived, they found an individual in the back seat having a medical emergency. EMS was then called to transport the individual to receive care.

We commend Supervisor Longas for his attention to detail and recognizing this abnormality which could have possibly saved a life. Longas said, “I was just doing my job I did not expect to be recognized, but really appreciate it.”
