Navigating Local
Security Challenges

Troy is a prosperous Oakland County suburb known for its business districts, shopping centers like Somerset Collection, residential neighborhoods, and ongoing development. It maintains an excellent safety record with property crime rates well below national averages (including burglary, theft, and motor vehicle theft). While violent crime is low, property-related incidents and crimes of opportunity still pose concerns for businesses, retailers, and construction projects in this active community.

Key local challenges include:

Retail and Shoplifting Incidents: As a major retail hub with extensive commercial space, Troy experiences retail fraud and shoplifting, particularly around high-traffic shopping areas. Troy Police actively support retailers through dedicated liaison programs to address these issues.
Property Theft and Vehicle Break-Ins: Larceny/theft and occasional vehicle burglaries occur, often as crimes of opportunity (e.g., unlocked cars or visible valuables). Police have noted periodic increases and emphasize prevention through awareness.
Construction Site Vulnerabilities: Development projects in the area can attract theft of tools, materials (such as copper wiring and lumber), equipment, and generators—persistent risks for construction sites across Metro Detroit suburbs.
Access Control in Commercial and Residential Areas: High commuter and visitor traffic around offices, retail, and neighborhoods requires strong management of who enters properties, especially during off-hours, to deter unauthorized activity.

At STT Security, we understand these Troy-specific realities. Our experienced local officers provide a visible, professional deterrent that reduces opportunistic property crimes while delivering tailored solutions for retail environments, construction sites, commercial properties, residential communities, and more. We help businesses and property managers move beyond reactive measures to proactive, reliable protection that keeps operations running smoothly and the community safer.
